Customer alleges Wawa gas station's negligence caused injuries

Slip01

ORLANDO — A Brevard County man is suing Wawa, alleging negligence in keeping a gas station safe.

Raul Mendez filed a complaint Jan. 8 in Orange County Circuit Court against Wawa Inc., alleging the defendant failed to use reasonable care in maintaining its premises in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, on June 16, 2016, Mendez was at the Wawa filling station, 14548 E. Colonial Drive, Orlando, when he slipped and fell due to a slippery substance. As a result, Mendez says, he sustained bodily injuries, disfigurement, mental anguish and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Wawa failed to use reasonable care in maintaining the premises in a reasonably safe condition and failed to give warning to a customer of concealed perils that should have been known to the property owner.

Mendez seeks trial by jury, damages of at least $15,000, costs of action, interest and all other relief the court deems appropriate and proper. He is represented by attorney Ryan Christopher Rodems of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
