ORLANDO — An Orlando couple is suing an insurer, alleging breach of contract.
Howell Robert Pugh and Angela Dean Pugh filed a complaint Jan. 5 in Orange County Circuit Court against American Integrity Insurance Company of Florida, alleging failure to cover damages from a windstorm.
According to the complaint, on June 26, 2017, while the Pughs' homeowner’s insurance was in full force and effect, a windstorm caused damage to their residence at 14622 Rockledge Grove Court, Orlando. The suit says the damages were to the roof, interior walls, ceiling, floors, cabinetry and paint. However, the lawsuit states, American Integrity has refused to provide insurance coverage for the damages to the property.
The plaintiffs allege American Integrity Insurance failed to provide necessary reimbursement for a covered loss in accordance with the insurance contract, and failed to timely evaluate and pay the benefits owed the plaintiffs.
The Pughs seek trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000 for all damage to their residence caused by the windstorm, plus interest on overdue payments, attorney fees, court costs and all other relief deemed just. They are represented by attorney Rafael F. Garcia of MSPG Law Group of Central Florida PLLC in Orlando.
