CLEARWATER — A Manatee County woman is suing a restaurant customer, alleging defamation.

Johanna Grabow filed a complaint Dec. 29 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Enis Monica Philbert alleging the Hillsborough County woman issued false statements against the plaintiff, which caused Grabow to get fired.

According to the complaint, Grabow had worked as a waitress at the Pinellas County restaurant since 2014. The suit says on July 29, 2017, Grabow was terminated from employment due to Philbert's false accusations that the waitress had mistreated a group of customers.

The plaintiff alleges Philbert made false statements regarding Grabow in social media in order to injure the plaintiff's reputation and financial standing.

Grabow seeks trial by jury, general damages of more than $15,000, special economic damages, non-economic damages, compensatory damages, interest, court costs and all further relief the court grants. She is represented by attorney Jesse L. Skipper of St. Petersburg.
