CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County woman is suing a St. Petersburg night club operator, alleging negligence caused her injuries.

Monika Thornhill filed a complaint Jan. 4 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Art Lounge 535 LLC, alleging the night club operator failed to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 4, 2017, Thornhill was lawfully on the premises of Art Lounge 535 in St. Petersburg. The suit says Thornhill sustained significant injuries due to the defective sink that fell off the wall. The lawsuit states the falling sink caused injuries to her body and extremities, sustained pain and suffering, and that Thornhill incurred medical expenses, and loss of wages.

The plaintiff alleges Art Lounge 535 failed to adequately maintain or inspect the bathroom so the sink would not collapse, and failed to adequately warn the plaintiff of the defective sink.

Thornhill seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney Joseph A. Kopacz of Morgan & Morgan Tampa PA in Tampa.
