CLEARWATER — A tenant is suing a St. Petersburg apartment complex owner, alleging negligence that led to the plaintiff suffering illness due to molds.

Bernadin Isadore filed a complaint Jan. 4 in Pinellas Circuit Court against 1626 18th LLC and Avesta Homes LLC, alleging they failed to provide a safe and secure environment.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 19, 2014, Isadore discovered mold at his Avesta Homes apartment owned by the defendants. The suit says Isadore subsequently became physically ill due to excessive yeast and/or bacteria and/or mold.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to give warning of the latent dangers of the property and failed to maintain the ventilation and air conditioning units, fans, ducts, windows and ceilings of the premises.

Isadore seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, exclusive of costs and interest. He is represented by attorney Eduardo R. Latour of Latour & Associates PA in Tarpon Springs.
