Contractor alleges customer owes more than $19,000

CLEARWATER — An architectural firm is suing a customer, alleging breach of contract.

Klar and Klar Architects Inc. filed a complaint Jan. 4 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Tom Leonard, alleging failure to pay more than $19,000.

According to the complaint, on April 22, 2017, the parties entered a contract for Klar and Klar to design a restaurant on a six-acre parcel of land along Lake Tarpon. The suit says Klar and Klar suffered economic damages of $19,575 because the defendant has defaulted on the service fees.

The plaintiff alleges Leonard breached the contract by failing to pay for invoices, and retained and benefited from the design services without paying dues at the expense and detriment of the plaintiff.

Klar and Klar Architects seeks trial by jury, judgment in excess of $19,575, prejudgment interest at the rate of 18 percent, court costs, attorney fees, and all other relief the court deems appropriate. It is represented by attorneys Marion Hale and Sharon Krick of Johnson, Pope, Bokor, Ruppel & Burns LLP in Clearwater.
