Executor accuses St. Petersburg nursing home of wrongful death

CLEARWATER — An executor is suing a St. Petersburg nursing home, alleging negligence and wrongful death.

Terena Pellasce, as executor of Sandra Western's estate, filed a complaint Dec. 28 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Suncoast Manor Retirement Community Inc., doing business as Westminster Suncoast, and Westminster Services Inc., alleging failure to exercise standard care and skill required of nursing homes.

According to the complaint, on May 4, 2017, Western entered Westminster Suncoast, The suit says Western sustained bodily injuries, resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, aggravation of a previously existing condition, and eventually death July 7, 2017, due to the negligent acts of the defendants in the care and treatment of the decedent. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly hire, retain and supervise staff in their care of Western and failed to protect her from foreseeable harm.

Pellasce seeks trial by jury, general and special damages of at least $15,000, court costs and all further appropriate relief. She is represented by attorney Brian L. Thompson of Morgan & Morgan Tampa PA in St. Petersburg.
