ORLANDO — An Orange County woman is suing the property owners of an Orlando apartment complex, alleging negligence led to the plaintiff being shot.

Angel Grantley filed a complaint Dec. 27 in Orange Circuit County Court against Eagle Summit Apartments LLC and Lohman Property Management. Co. LLC, alleging they failed to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 29, 2017, Grantley was lawfully on the defendants' premises at Eagle Summit Apartments, 3024 S. Rio Grande Ave., Orlando, when she was shot in the body. The suit says the shooting resulted in pain and suffering, disability, aggravation of pre-existing condition, mental anguish and loss of earnings. Grantley says she was rendered a paraplegic as a result of the negligence of the defendants in the implementation of security measures that failed to prevent criminal activity on their property.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to monitor visitors in their apartment complex, failed to provide adequate security and failed to repair existing gates to regulate entry.

Grantley seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages of more than $15,000, interest, court costs and all other relief the court deems appropriate. She is represented by attorneys Edmund Normand and Alex Couch of Normand PLLC in Orlando.
