Nursing student accuses school, of breach of contract

CLEARWATER — A nursing student is suing a nursing school and officers, alleging breach of contract, slander, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation.

Karen Raus filed a complaint Dec. 18 in Pinellas Circuit Court against St. Petersberg College of Nursing and John Doe 1-5, alleging age discrimination. 

According to the complaint, in August 2016, Raus suffered damages to her reputation, as a result of the wrongful conduct of the defendants in creating false narratives, discriminating against her based upon her age, and creating false facts. 

The plaintiff alleges the St. Petersbrg College of Nursing and its officers prevented her from finishing her studies, suspended Raus, based upon a false narrative that they created to destroy the plaintiff's reputation and career.

Raus seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages of more than $15,000, plus interest, court costs, and all other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorney Jay F. Romano of Romano Law Center PA in Boca Raton.
