Sunrise property owner alleges insurance company failed to cover damages

Insurance 05

FORT LAUDERDALE — A Sunrise woman is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract in failing to cover damages to her property.

Patricia Huggins filed a complaint Sept. 25 in Broward County Circuit Court against Safepoint Insurance Company, alleging breach of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, on June 7, 2017, Huggins suffered losses to her personal properties at 5976 NW 16h St., Sunrise, that are covered by Safepoint's home insurance policy. The suit says Huggins was forced to retain a counsel and obligated to pay fees to pursue her claim because Safepoint has denied her claim and refused to pay for the covered losses.

Huggins seeks trial by jury, damages, pre-judgment and post-judgment interest, attorney fees, court costs and all other just and fit relief. She is represented by attorney Richard Litofsky of Litigation & Recovery Law Center PL in Miami Beach.
