Broward County property owner alleges insurer breached contract

Insurance 04

FORT LAUDERDALE — A Broward County property owner is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.

Peter Van Antwerpen filed a complaint Oct. 6 in Broward County Circuit Court against Prepared Insurance Company, alleging the insurer failed to cover damages.

According to the complaint, Van Antwerpen has suffered damages to the building and contents, and loss of use of the insured property and possessions at 2464 Bay Isle Court, Weston. However, the suit says, the defendant has denied coverage for the loss, violating the terms of the insurance policy.

The plaintiff alleges Prepared Insurance has refused to pay the full amount of the claim, and required Van Antwerpen to retain the services of an attorney to represent and protect his interest.

Van Antwerpen seeks trial by jury, judgment for damages, interest, court costs, attorney fees, and all other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorney Peter Mineo Jr. of The Mineo Salcedo Law Firm PA in Davie.
