FORT LAUDERDALE — A Pompano Beach man is suing Broward County, alleging negligence caused him to fall and suffer injuries.
Reynaldo Caballero filed a complaint Oct. 6 in Broward County Circuit Court against Broward County alleging failure to use ordinary care to maintain a construction site in a safe condition.
According to the complaint, on Oct. 23, 2016, Caballero was a pedestrian at the intersection of NE 16th Street and 51st Court, Pompano Beach where the county was engaged in a road construction project.
However, the suit says, due to the county's negligence of leaving a piece of a metal signpost along the intersection, Caballero tripped and fell. He says he suffered bodily injury, disability, mental anguish and aggravation of a previously existing condition.
The plaintiff alleges Broward County failed to warn him about the existing dangers, and failed to maintain and supervise the premises.
Caballero seeks trial by jury, damages of at least $15,000 and court costs. He is represented by attorneys Jonathan D. Wald of Wald, Gonzalez & Graff PA in Miami, and by Charles H. Cohen of Sunrise.
