Former employee accuses Broward County company of wrongful termination

Wrongful term 09

FORT LAUDERDALE — A former employee is suing a Broward County company, alleging wrongful termination and breach of contract.

James A. Robertson filed a complaint Oct. 6 in Broward County Circuit Court against Allegiance Crane & Equipment LLC of Pompano Beach, alleging breach of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 18, Robertson suffered monetary damages as a result of the defendant's impulsive and wrongful termination of the plaintiff's employment without due reason. The suit says the termination was done through an improper telephone conversion, against the terms of employment contract entered into by both parties.

The plaintiff alleges Allegiance Crane & Equipment failed to pay Robertson certain bonus payments, forced him to sign a release agreement immediately to receive severance pay, and forced him to acknowledge an alleged indebtedness that it had previously waived.

Robeerston seeks trial by jury, monetary damages of more than $15,000, including unpaid wages, bonuses and severance, interest, court costs, attorney fees and all just relief. He is represented by attorney Daniel R. Levine of Padula Bennardo Levine LLP in Boca Raton.
