FORT LAUDERDALE — A Broward County motorist is suing another driver, alleging the defendant's negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiff.
Maureen Garvey filed a complaint Sept. 25 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida County against Yumi Nakamura, alleging the defendant failed to exercise the standards of care and skill required in operating a motor vehicle.
According to the complaint, on June 4, 2016, Garvey suffered bodily injuries, resulting in great pain, impairments, loss of enjoyment of life and incurred medical and treatment expenses after being hit by a car driven by the defendant on Route A1A in Fort Lauderdale.
The plaintiff alleges Nakamura operated and maintained her vehicle in a negligent and careless manner when she collided into the Dodge Charger operated by the plaintiff.
Garvey seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages of more than $15,000 and court costs. She is represented by attorney Thomas H. Leeder of Leeder Law in Plantation.
