ORLANDO — An Orlando couple is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.
Jon Lawson and Charla Lawson filed a complaint Sept. 18 in the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida Orange County against Sawgrass Mutual Insurance Company, alleging the defendant failed to comply with a valid and binding contract under which it is required to provide insurance benefits.
According to the complaint, on June 10, 2016, the Lawsons suffered accidental damage to their property at 13268 Sobrado Drive, Orlando, and filed for insurance benefits from the defendant. Despite making payments of all insurance premiums, the suit says, the plaintiffs were denied of benefits covered under the policy.
The plaintiffs allege Sawgrass Mutual failed and refused to pay its insured clients the full amount of benefits to which they are entitled for the loss.
The Lawsons seek trial by jury, all damages including benefits available under the insurance policy, pre-judgment interest, court costs, expert fees, attorney fees, and all such other relief the court deems just and reasonable. They are represented by attorneys Matthew K. Mullinax and Dean Makris of Makris & Mullinax, PA in New Port Richey.
