FORT LAUDERDALE — A yacht owner is suing a Fort Lauderdale maritime service company, alleging negligence caused damage to its property.

Graceland Holdings LLC filed a complaint Sept. 21 in Broward Circuit Court against ARW Maritime Inc., alleging failure to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.

According to the complaint, on April 19, 2016 Graceland Holdings suffered financial harm, including expenses from emergency towing service and water damage, after hiring ARW Maritime to perform certain services on its yacht, the Nicky D.. The suit says the defendant failed to properly conduct these services, resulting in a leak from the Nicky D's HVAC system that nearly caused the vessel to sink.

The plaintiff alleges ARW Maritime failed to use conforming parts and materials that were not defective, and caused the plaintiff to spend unwanted expenses.

Graceland Holdings seeks trial by jury, all related damages and all other relief the court deems appropriate. It is represented by attorney David A. Comras of Law Offices of Comras & Comras PA in Fort Lauderdale.
