ORLANDO — An Orlando couple is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.

Jorge Moreno and Mabel Moreno filed a complaint Sept. 13 in Orange Circuit Court against Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company, alleging breach of duty of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 13, 2016, the Morenos suffered damages to their property at 1018 Apopka Woods Lane, Orlando, due to water discharge in the kitchen, a covered condition under an insurance policy with Universal Property. the defendant. However, the suit says, the defendant denied the claim despite being given a timely notice of the loss by the plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs allege Universal Property refused to properly investigate the claim, failed to adjust the loss properly, promptly and accurately, and failed to honor its contractual obligation by denial of plaintiffs' claim.

The Morenos seek trial by jury, damages of at least $15,000, plus costs, interest and attorney fees. They are represented by attorney Jonathan Drake of Strems Law Firm in Coral Gables.
