Broward County couple allege motorist caused crash

Car accident 28

FORT LAUDERDALE — A Broward County couple is suing a motorist, alleging negligence in a vehicle crash and loss of consortium.

Christine and Charles Burke filed a complaint Sept. 7 in Broward Circuit Court against Michael Lee Mundy alleging the defendant failed to exercise standard care and skill required to operate a vehicle.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 24, 2013, Mundy's car collided with Christine Burke's vehicle at West Oakland Park Avenue in Lauderdale. The crash left Burke sick, sore and disabled, caused aggravation of a previously existing disease, leading to great pain and anguish, and incurred medical expenses. The suit says , Charles Burke was deprived of the services, consortium and companionship of his wife.

The lawsuit says Mundy's negligence in operating the vehicle caused it to collide with Christine Burke's car.

The plaintiffs allege Mundy failed to properly operate, maintain and control the vehicle he was driving, and caused life-threatening injuries to Christine Burke.

The Burkes seek trial by jury, judgment for damages, plus costs and interest as permitted by law. They are represented by attorney Scott R. Gill of Fort Lauderdale.
