ORLANDO — Two individuals are suing Children's Academy at Loch Haven Inc., a daycare center, for alleged negligence.

John and Ellen Sprague filed a complaint on Aug. 8 in the Orange County Circuit Court, alleging that the daycare center failed to exercise reasonable care for the safety of its enrollees.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that their minor child suffered bodily injuries on April 6, 2016 when the tip of the child's finger allegedly was severed in a door jamb, allegedly resulting in pain, suffering, disability, physical impairment, disfigurement, permanent and significant scarring and medical expenses.

The plaintiffs hold the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to prevent the minors in its care from accessing the doorway, failing to take any action to preserve the severed finger, and for allegedly failing to properly supervise the minors.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment for damages and costs against the defendant and any further relief the court deems just. They are represented by Kimberly E. Lorenz of The Orlando Family Firm in Orlando.
