FORT LAUDERDALE — A Florida man is suing Florida Peninsula Insurance Company for alleged breach of contract.
Robert Haupt filed a complaint on June 16 in the Broward County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendant breached its duty of good faith and fair dealing.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered damage to his property on February 25 due to an accidental discharge of water from the defective plumbing system. Though the defendant allegedly made a payment to cover the damages, the plaintiff claims that they are inadequate to perform the necessary repairs.
The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to pay him the correct amount of insurance policy benefits for his claim.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages in excess of $15,000 plus statutory interest, court costs and attorney's fees. He is represented by Kenneth R. Duboff of Duboff Law Firm in North Miami.
