Woman alleges Universal Property and Casualty Insurance Co. wrongfully denied coverage for Maitland property

Insurance 04

ORLANDO – A Maitland homeowner alleges that her home was damaged and that her insurer refused to provide coverage.

Rosetta Betty filed a complaint on June 16 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Universal Property and Casualty Insurance Co. alleging breach of written contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 6, 2016, while her property was insured under a homeowner's insurance policy, it sustained a covered loss due to accidental wind and water damage. The suit states that the plaintiff submitted a claim but the defendant denied to pay the claim.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages, interest, attorney's fees, costs, and other relief the court deems appropriate. She is represented by David A. Spain of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
