FORT LAUDERDALE — A married couple is suing The Bamboo Gallery LLC, an event venue, citing alleged negligence and wrongful death.
Khiyana Parsons and Dwayne Brown filed a complaint on June 14 in the Broward County Circuit Court, alleging that the event venue failed to provide a safe environment for its business invitees.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they were on the defendant's property as guests to a wedding event on March 29 when Parsons tripped on an unsecured lid of an irrigation source. As a result of the alleged negligence of the defendant, Parson, who was pregnant, reportedly was required to undergo an emergency surgery to deliver her unborn child, who ultimately passed away five days later. The plaintiffs sustained medical and funeral expenses and mental pain and suffering from the loss of their child.
The plaintiffs hold the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to monitor and inspect the dangerous area, provide guests with a safe ingress and egress to the reception area and failed to correct and repair all dangerous conditions.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant for damages, plus interest, costs and attorney's fees. They are represented by Eugene K. Pettis and Nikeisha SW Pryor of Haliczer Pettis & Schwamm PA in Fort Lauderdale.
