FORT LAUDERDALE – An insurance company doing business in Broward County is accused of wrongfully denying a claim for damages to a Pembroke Pines property.
Gustavo and Maria Hidalgo filed a complaint on June 8 in the Broward Circuit Court against Mount Beacon Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Oct. 24, 2016, their property suffered a loss due to water damage. The suit states they provided the defendant with an estimate for the covered loss and that the defendant denied the claim.
The plaintiffs hold Mount Beacon Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to honor its contractual obligations to protect plaintiffs' assets and pay for covered losses.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant for damages of more than $15,000, plus costs, interest and attorney's fees. They are represented by Gregory Saldamando of Strems Law Firm in Coral Gables.
