Homeowner claims Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Co. wrongfully denied claim

Insurance 08

FORT LAUDERDALE – A Miramar homeowner alleges his insurer breached its contract with the denial of his property damage claim.

Manuel Balian filed a complaint on June 14 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 19, 2016, his insured property sustained a covered loss due to a defective shower diverter. The suit states the defendant denied the plaintiff's claim.

The plaintiff holds Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to comply with the terms of the policy.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages, costs, interest, attorney's fees and other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Jack Benmeleh of Militzok & Levy PA in Hollywood.
