Homeowners allege Citizens Property Insurance did not pay enough to cover damages

Insurance 06

FORT LAUDERDALE – Pompano Beach homeowners claim that their insurance benefits were not sufficient enough to cover damages to their home.

Nadege Mele and Maryse Jean-Baptiste filed a complaint on June 7 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against Citizens Property Insurance Corp. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Jan. 15, their insured property sustained a covered loss due to water damage. They allege the amount paid by the defendant is inadequate to perform the repairs necessary to their property.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant for damages, plus interest, court costs, attorney's fees, and further relief as the court deems appropriate. They are represented by David Low of David Low & Associates PA in Fort Lauderdale.
