First Liberty Insurance Corp. alleged to have wrongfully denied Hurricane Matthew damage claim

ORLANDO – The owners of an Orlando home allege that their insurer wrongfully denied their claim for damages caused by a hurricane.

Claribel Martinez and Rafaela Castanela filed a complaint on June 15 in the Orange County Circuit Court against The First Liberty Insurance Corp.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Oct. 7, 2016, their insured property suffered wind and water damages due to Hurricane Matthew. The suit states that the plaintiffs filed all the necessary forms, but the defendant denied their claim.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant for damages, plus interest, costs and attorney's fees. They are represented by David R. Heil of David R. Heil PA in Winter Park.
