FORT LAUDERDALE – A woman alleges she was injured at a Fort Lauderdale cafe because of an umbrella stand.

Genie Howard filed a complaint on June 7 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against Union Planters (E&A) LLC, Union Planters (Edens) LLC and Clan 2 LLC, doing business as Buenos Aires Cafe alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 8, 2016, she was walking out of a nail salon, she tripped and fell over an umbrella stand that was at the Buenos Aires Cafe and was seriously injured.

The plaintiff holds Union Planters (E&A) LLC, Union Planters (Edens) LLC and Clan 2 LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn plaintiff of the dangerous condition and failed to train and supervise their employees to locate and repair the hazards in their property.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for damages of more than $15,000 plus costs. She is represented by Alexander R. Hunt of Goldman & Daszkal PA in Deerfield Beach.
