FORT LAUDERDALE – A Lauderhill property owner has filed a suit after her insurer denied her more than $20,000 damage estimate and claim for property damages.

Veronica Leon filed a complaint on June 7 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against Citizens Property Insurance Corp. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 21, she suffered a loss due to water damage to her insured property. The suit states she submitted a damage estimate of $23,289.93 to the defendant and that the defendant rejected this amount and denied coverage.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant, damages of $15,000, plus costs, interest and attorney's fees. She is represented by Christopher Aguirre of Strems Law Firm in Coral Gables.
