Pugsley's PLC alleges accountant failed to properly calculate taxes

Law money 03

ORLANDO – A Winter Springs alleges it had to pay penalties because its tax returns were miscalculated by a certified public accountant.

Pugsley's PLC Inc. filed a complaint on June 12 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Blackstone CPA LLC; Blackstone Partners LLC; Gordon, Gelley & Co. PLLC; and Steven M. Gelley alleging professional negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it hired Gelley to prepare and file its income tax returns for tax years 2012, 2013 and 2014. The suit states that the U.S. Internal Revenue Service sent the plaintiff notices in May 2016 that its taxes had been miscalculated for the three tax years and imposed penalties and interest.

The plaintiff holds Blackstone CPA LLC; Blackstone Partners LLC; Gordon, Gelley & Co. PLLC; and Gelley responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to exercise reasonable and professional care in the preparation of the returns.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for damages, prejudgment interest, post-judgment interest, court costs and further relief in which the court may deem just. It is represented by D. Frank Wright of Wright, Fulford, Moorhead & Brown PA in Altamonte Springs.
