Save-A-Lot shopper alleges substance on floor caused fall, injuries

Slip01

ORLANDO – An Orange County woman alleges she was injured at an Orlando retail store because of a substance on the floor.

Maria Ortega filed a complaint on June 9 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Moran Food LLC, doing business as Save-A-Lot, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 1, 2014, she was an invitee on the premises owned by defendant when suddenly and without warning she slipped and fell because of a clear substance on the floor. As a result, plaintiff alleges she was injured in and about her body and extremities, experienced pain and suffering, incurred medical expenses, suffered physical handicap, mental anguish and loss of earnings.

The plaintiff holds Moran Food LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly created an unsafe condition on its premises, failed to conduct regular inspections of its property, and failed to warn plaintiff by way of caution signs or other means.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant for damages of more than $15,000 and further relief the court deems just. She is represented by Ryan P. Rudd of Payas, Payas & Payas LLP in Orlando.
