FORT LAUDERDALE – The owner of a Lauderdale Lakes home alleges that his insurer wrongfully denied coverage of his damage claim.

John Kohan filed a complaint on June 5 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against Security First Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that while his property's insurance was in full force and effect, it sustained a covered loss as a result of a water loss. However, despite efforts of plaintiff to furnished timely notice of covered loss, the suit states the defendant refused to pay either part or all of plaintiff's claim.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages, interest, attorney's fees, costs and other relief that the court deems just. He is represented by Peter Mineo Jr. of The Mineo Salcedo Law Firm PA in Davie.
