Patient files suit against Bayfront HMA Medical Center after fall

Medical malpractice 06

CLEARWATER – A patient alleges a medical center failed to take proper measures to prevent her from falling after a surgery.

Barbara Wilson filed a complaint on June 1 in the 6th Judicial Circuit of Florida - Pinellas County against Bayfront HMA Medical Center LLC, doing business as Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she had revision surgery on her left knee replacement at the defendant's center in April 2016. She alleges that while she was a patient, she fell while unattended and was injured.

The plaintiff holds Bayfront HMA Medical Center LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to follow its own policies, procedures and care plan to prevent her from falling.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $15,000, plus interest, taxable cost and all other relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by Wil H. Florin and Eric P. Czelusta of Florin Roeberg PA in Palm Harbor.
