ORLANDO – An Orange County man alleges that he lost his job because of his HIV status.

John Doe filed a complaint on June 8 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Professional Service Industries Inc., Intertek Group PLC and Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development Inc. alleging HIV discrimination.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in February 2017, while he was still employed by Disney as a technician, he was diagnosed with HIV. He alleges he informed the defendants about his HIV status. He alleges that in March, his shift schedule was changed and hours reduced and then in April, he was terminated.

The plaintiff holds Professional Service Industries Inc., Intertek Group PLC and Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly terminated plaintiff because of his HIV status.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants, injunctive relief, liquidated damages of $5,000 or actual damages, compensatory damages, costs, attorney’s fees and expenses and further relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Luis A. Cabassa of Wenzel Fenton Cabassa PA in Tampa.
