Brian Slocum Handyman Services alleged to have performed defective tile work

Contract 06

CLEARWATER – A Pinellas County resident alleges a man he hired to install floor tile performed defective work.

Barry Donaldson filed a complaint on May 26 in the 6th Judicial Circuit of Florida - Pinellas County against Brian Slocum, doing business as Brian Slocum Handyman Services alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he hired the defendant in November 2015 to install floor tile and that the plaintiff paid the defendant in full. The plaintiff alleges that the work completed was defective and below the standard of care and good workmanship, citing inconsistent grout lines and cracked tile corners.

The plaintiff holds Slocum responsible because the defendant allegedly is unlicensed to install tile in Pinellas County and failed to correct the defective work.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and treble damages, attorney's fees and costs and such other just and proper relief. He is represented by Shirley W. Whittle of Whittle Law PA in Tampa.
