Former Orange County employee alleges she was terminated after taking a medical leave

Wrongful term 06

ORLANDO – A former employee of the Orange County Tax Collector's office alleges she was terminated for taking protected leave for a medical condition.

Mildred Perez-Davis filed a complaint on June 6 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Orange County Tax Collector Scott Randolph citing the Family and Medical Leave Act and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff began working for the defendant in 2008. She alleges that she was subjected to a hostile work environment because of a health condition by her co-workers. The suit states she took a leave in April 2016 to address her medical needs, and was terminated in June 2016.

The plaintiff holds Randolph responsible because she allegedly was harassed for exercising her right to utilize her medical leave and that the defendant allegedly failed to take prompt and adequate remedial action to prevent the abuses towards plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant, equitable relief, general and compensatory damages, attorney's fees and costs, interest, and further relief as the court deems just and proper. She is represented by Marie A. Mattox of Marie A. Mattox PA in Tallahassee.
