FORT LAUDERDALE – A man alleges his Broward County employer wrongfully terminated him after suffering a work-related injury.
Jobson Smith filed a complaint on June 2 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against Sunshine Cleaning Systems Inc. alleging wrongful, retaliatory discharge.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he was employed by the defendant as a janitor and was injured in July 2016. The suit states he was terminated on Jan. 27 allegedly because he sought workers' compensation benefits.
The plaintiff holds Sunshine Cleaning Systems Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly acted with malice and reckless disregard for plaintiff's rights.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for all back wages, front wages, compensatory damages, costs, reinstatement and promotion, injunctive relief, attorney's fees, and other relief that the court may deem just. He is represented by Jason S. Remer of Remer & Georges-Pierre PLLC in Miami.
