Couple seeks more than $15,000 from Citizens Property Insurance Corp. regarding loss claim

FORT LAUDERDALE – A Miramar couple is in disagreement with their insurer over the actual cash value of a loss.

Maria and Blas Giffuni filed a complaint for damages on May 23 in the Broward Circuit Court against Citizens Property Insurance Corp.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Feb. 6, their property sustained a covered loss for water damage from a defective plumbing system. The suit states the plaintiffs and defendant are in disagreement regarding the determination of the actual cash value of the insured loss.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant for damages of more than $15,000, plus statutory interest, court costs and attorney's fees. They are represented by Kenneth R. Duboff of Duboff Law Firm in North Miami.
