FORT LAUDERDALE – A Margate property owner alleges that his insurer has failed to communicate with him regarding his claim.
William Castle filed a complaint on May 23 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward Count against Universal Property and Casualty Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 7, 2017, his insured property sustained a direct loss caused by a covered peril, including damage to the building, contents, and loss of use of the property and possessions therein. However, despite efforts of plaintiff to furnished timely notice of covered loss and has performed all obligations precedent to recover under the policy, the defendant allegedly failed to send a plumber to assist the adjuster with the loss and failed to respond to the plaintiff's claim communications.
