Property owner seeks judgment regarding Universal Property & Casualty policy

Contract 06

FORT LAUDERDALE – A Margate property owner alleges there is a dispute between her and an insurance company regarding coverage.

Immanuella Joseph filed a complaint on May 22 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Co. seeking declaratory relief.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 12, 2016, her insured property sustained a covered loss. She is seeking declaratory judgment from the court because there is a controversy between the parties regarding the existence and extent of the plaintiff's right to coverage.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in her favor for actual damages, interest, attorney's fees, costs incurred and further relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Alex Stern of Litigation & Recovery Law Center PL in North Miami Beach.
