ORLANDO – An insurance company is accused of failing to properly adjust a loss to cover alleged damages to a couple's home.

Luis and Norma Valentin filed a complaint on May 24 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against St. Johns Insurance Co. Inc. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Feb 4, 2017, their Orlando property sustained a covered loss because of water damages. They allege the defendant issued a payment of insurance proceeds, but the property sustained damages greater than what the defendant acknowledged.

The plaintiffs hold St. Johns Insurance Co. Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly adjust the loss and distribute proceeds to return the plaintiff's property to its previous condition.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendant for damages, plus interest, court costs and reasonable attorneys’ fees, and for any other relief the court finds just. They are represented by Victor M. Llerandi and Alberto M. Regueyra of Regueyra & Llerandi PL in South Miami.
