Walmart shopper files suit after falling in store in Cooper City

Slip01

FORT LAUDERDALE – A Fort Lauderdale woman alleges she was injured at a Cooper City Walmart store because of a substance left on the floor.

Dorothy Gonzales filed a complaint on May 19 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. alleging that the retail store failed to provide a reasonably safe environment for its business invitees.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 11, 2015, she slipped on a foreign substance that had accumulated on the floor of defendant's premises. She alleges she sustained bodily injury, disability, pain and suffering, medical expenses and lost earnings.

The plaintiff holds Wal-Mart Stores Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to clean up, inspect, warn or rope off the hazardous area.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages, plus costs of action and other relief the court deems just. She is represented by Gary H. Juda of Cohen & Juda PA in Plantation.
