Driver files suit against Fort Lauderdale Police Department after collision

FORT LAUDERDALE – A motorist alleges she was injured in a collision with a Fort Lauderdale police officer

Zilla B. Irons filed a complaint on May 4 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against the Douglas H. Ng A Kien and Fort Lauderdale Police Department alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 2, 2016, the defendant struck her vehicle near Northeast Third Avenue near West Broward Boulevard. She alleges that she was injured in and about her body and sustained damages including pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, loss of enjoyment, mental anguish, loss of earnings, medical expenses and aggravation of a previously existing condition.

The plaintiff holds Douglas H. Ng A Kien and the Fort Lauderdale Police Department responsible because the defendants allegedly negligently operated the vehicle.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for damages of more than $15,000. She is represented by Dena Sisk Foman of McLaughlin & Stern LLP in West Palm Beach.
