FORT LAUDERDALE – A Davie homeowner alleges two individuals hired to complete work on her home failed to start or complete the work.

Bernadette Anne Giordano filed a complaint on May 3 in the 17th Judicial Circuit of Florida - Broward County against Leon Petit and Amberlee Petit alleging breach of contract and elder abuse.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 10, she contracted the defendants to do work in her home to install kitchen cabinets, appliances, baseboards and repair the staircase, to which she paid checks written for a total sum of $8,697 as partial payment. However, the defendants allegedly never did any work in her home and were discovered by plaintiff to be unlicensed contractors.

The plaintiff holds Leon Petit and Amberlee Petit responsible because the defendants allegedly received and retained monetary benefit without working on the contracted project at the expense and detriment of plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants for damages in the sum of $40,000. She is representing herself.
