ORLANDO – A Georgia parent alleges her minor child was injured at Magic Kingdom on a ride.
Mary Mayo, as parent and natural guardian of Adara Mayo, filed a complaint on May 10 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S. Inc. alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 5, 2014, Adara Mayo was attempting to ride Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin and sustained severe and permanent bodily injury after an employee of the defendant negligently slammed the ride's safety device onto the child's finger.
The plaintiff holds Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S. Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to train its employee on how to safely secure ride passengers, and failed to warn invitees of any known hazards.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages of more than $15,000, interest and costs. She is represented by Steven J. Tomesko of Dan Newlin & Partners in Orlando.
