ORLANDO — A patron is suing Island Fuzion Restaurant & Bar Inc. and Sew Hamekaran Sarju, citing alleged assault, battery and negligence for a 2013 altercation.

Lakshmi Nauth filed a complaint on May 1 in the Orange County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging that they caused life threatening injuries, pain and suffering.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on Aug. 4, 2013, she was seriously injured in the face and hands when intoxicated defendant Sarju and two other men started harassing and threatening her and companions, including throwing broken bottles at them and brandishing a baseball bat as plaintiff and companions fled defendant Island's bar.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendant restaurant allegedly failed to protect invitees from assault and battery and failed to employ adequate security measures and personnel to deter untoward incidents.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants, declaratory relief, compensatory damages and other relief that the court deems proper. She is represented by Paul Kunz of Bander Law Firm PLLC in Miami.
