FORT LAUDERDALE – A homeowner alleges his insurer has failed to pay or deny a claim he made for water damage to his home.

Clinton Reid filed a complaint on April 24 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against University Property & Casualty Insurance Co. alleging breach of insurance policy.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 17, 2016, the insured property of plaintiff under a homeowner's insurance policy sustained a covered loss for water damage. However, despite efforts of plaintiff to comply with all post-loss obligations, the defendant allegedly has yet to pay or deny the claim.

The plaintiff holds University Property & Casualty Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly adjust and make a decision on the insurance claim in a timely manner in breach of the terms of the policy.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages, interest, costs, attorneys' fees and further relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Frank Hernandez Jr. of The Hernandez Legal Group in Miami.
