TAMPA – A Hillsborough County consumer alleges that a debt collector invaded her privacy with its calls.
Lisa Kirkland-Chea filed a complaint on April 17 in the Tampa Division of the Middle District of Florida against Westlake Services LLC, doing business as Westlake Financial Services, alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff claims that the defendant called her multiple times a day for an alleged auto loan debt. The plaintiff holds Westlake Services LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly called plaintiff with such frequency meant to abuse or harass, contacted plaintiff without express consent and invaded plaintiff's rights to privacy and seclusion.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for statutory, actual and punitive damages; attorney's fees, litigation expenses, costs of suit, and further relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Christopher Legg of Buchwald Legg PLLC in Hollywood.
