Insurance 08

FORT LAUDERDALE – A homeowner alleges that her insurer failed to provide necessary reimbursement for water damage to her home.

Ezelda Carter filed a complaint on April 12 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against Citizens Property Insurance Corp. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 5, 2015, she suffered water damages to her Fort Lauderdale property when a plumbing line failed and while it was insured under a policy with the defendant. The plaintiff holds Citizens Property Insurance Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to fulfill its contractual obligations and failed to timely evaluate the loss.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages to the property, plus interest, attorney's fees, court costs, and other relief deemed just. She is represented by Leo A. Manzanilla of MSPG Law Group in Coral Gables.
