Man alleges Securian Life Insurance Co. wrongfully denied benefits

Insurance 05

TAMPA – A man alleges his insurer unlawfully denied him insurance benefits.

Robert Whiteside filed a complaint on May 10 in the Tampa Division of the Middle District of Florida against Securian Life Insurance Co. alleging that the defendant violated the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he made a claim for death benefits under an insurance plan he has with the defendant. The plaintiff holds Securian Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed and refused to pay the insured benefits under the terms of the decedent's plan.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks payment of death benefits, plus attorney's fees, costs and any other such further relief as the court deems proper. He is represented by David A. Spain of Morgan and Morgan PA in Orlando.
