Kablelink Communications allegedly failed to pay minimum, overtime wages

Law money 09

TAMPA – A Tampa man alleges he was misclassified as an independent contractor by a Tampa business and was not paid overtime wages.

Victor Cabrera filed a complaint on April 10 in the Tampa Division against Kablelink Communications LLC alleging that the defendant violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was hired as a non-exempt employee and regularly worked at an average of 70 to 80 hours per workweek. The plaintiff holds Kablelink Communications LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay wages at a rate equal to the federal minimum wage and failed to compensate for all hours worked over 40 hours.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks payment for unpaid wages with interest, compensatory damages, costs, attorneys' fees and such other and further relief as the court deems equitable. He is represented by Chad A. Barr of Law Office of Chad A. Barr in Altamonte Springs.
